It is made by spinning natural seaweed into a flat, absorbent sheet that goes to work the moment it touches wound fluid. On contact with exudate, the fibers transform into a soft gel. This gel holds fluid inside the pad and helps maintain a moist environment at the wound surface, while making the pad easier to remove without pulling at the area underneath. As a super absorbent wound dressing, ExcelGinate is well suited to wounds that give off a moderate to heavy amount of fluid. Because the pad conforms to the shape of the wound, it can also be tucked gently into cavities and uneven areas where a flat product would not sit well. This makes it a flexible choice for many situations, from leg ulcers and pressure ulcer wound care to donor sites, post-surgical sites, and minor everyday scrapes and abrasions. Each box includes five sterile 4 x 4 inch absorbent pads, individually sealed for single use. For best results, use the pad dry, cover it with a secondary dressing, and change it based on how much fluid the wound is giving off. Do not moisten the pad before applying, and avoid pairing it with a hydrogel. If the pad feels dry or clings when you remove it, moisten it with sterile saline wound wash or a wound cleanser first. Always follow the instructions of your healthcare professional so the product fits your specific needs.

Maak de wond schoon voordat u het verband aanbrengt. Bevochtig het verband niet voor gebruik. Breng het verband direct aan op de wond. Bedek het met een tweede verband. Verander het verband elke 1 tot 3 dagen afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid exudaat. Als het verband droog lijkt of aan de wond blijft plakken, verzadig het dan met steriele zoutoplossing of wondreiniger om het verwijderen te vergemakkelijken. Gebruik dit product niet in combinatie met een hydrogel. Als het wondbed droogt, moet opnieuw worden beoordeeld of het verdere gebruik van alginaatverband passend is.
